About

Hello everyone! I’m Dr Natalie Coyle (nom de plume), the author of the Psychology and Video Games series. This series aims to bridge the gap between academia and gamers, exploring topics such as gaming communities, gaming and mental health, Gaming Disorder and much more.

As for why you can trust my Psychology and Video Games work, here are some of my credentials:

Credentials

  • I have a PhD in Mental Health Research and have nearly ten years of experience working in research and publishing academic papers. I am currently responsible for all psychological research activity for a mental health and literacy charity.
  • I have been a guest speaker at gaming and mental health conferences such as The International Games Summit 2020 and my work has been featured in outlets such as MSNBC, Vice, NME, Inverse and more.
  • I am very familiar with the big, bad world of data analysis. My explanations of research include data analysis techniques such as Structural Equation Modelling and Latent Class Analysis.
  • I have experience in both teaching high school level Psychology and university-level Statistics and Research Methods. I enjoy making knowledge as understandable and accessible as possible.
  • I read a lot of research!

Plagiarism

An unfortunate consequence of writing at an academic level complete with sources is that my work can look ripe for the taking. I have previously had to contact a university after I caught a student plagiarising an article and passing it off as their own work. I have also been plagiarised online, forcing me to file DMCA takedown requests.

If you are a student plagiarising my work, I will contact your university/institute and you may face punishment.

If you are a writer or website owner plagiarising my work, I will contact your editor or file a DMCA takedown request.

If you wish to write on the same or similar topic that I have covered, you are free to email me at contact@platinumparagon.info for help and support, or you can tweet me. Just please do not copy and paste my articles and try to change a word here or there to bypass plagiarism detection software – it doesn’t work.
